A Message From the Founder

Greg Hughes, Founder & CEO

I have always been passionate about aviation, but I didn’t get my pilot's license until I was 55.

Life seemed to get in the way of raising four kids with my wife, Tanja, of 37 years. We are fortunate to add three grandkids to the mix and building businesses all along the way, there never seemed to be enough time and money to get my pilot’s license until four years ago.

Starting The Hangar at Cloud 9 was twofold for me. It was a way to give back to the aviation community that has done so much for me and to get me further involved with what I love.

Our goal is to provide a platform where aviation enthusiasts and all of us together can build a hub that supports and nurtures the spirit of aviation. It doesn’t matter where you are on the journey because everyone is welcome whether you are brand new to aviation or have 25,000 hours under your belt.

And to get the most out of it, it takes a community. Each of us has something to contribute, big or small, to help each other become better pilots and people. Those in the know with their wings can mentor those ready to grow their wings.

One of the beautiful things about the aviation community is that you never have to do it alone. (Except for your first solo flight, that is about as fun as it gets!).

I hope you decide to join us on this journey. Life is short, so fly places to get there faster.
